DESCRIPTION: APW - Potter & Briggs, Providence R.I., lever fusee with hacking function, 50mm, approximately 12K gold (tested, exhibiting slow fade of 14K solution on stone and no fade of 10K solution) OF original P&B marked case with floral detail at center rear, cream colored enamel dial, KWKS, Massey 3 lever escapement, likely 13J, gilt mvt with floral engraved balance cock with "Patent" marking at its foot, missing its locking dust-cap, s#4998 with matching serial number within case. Gross weight of assembled watch 62.6 dwt (97.4 g). Although the movement is presumably of English manufacture and marked for this American retailer, we have listed this watch among our American category due to its American contract signature and due to the distinct possibility that its case was made in America. From the collection of Robert L. Ravel, M.D.
